| 15 | | Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook | Reported | This problem is tested to exist when only the drivers are installed after a fresh Windows install. After installing the applications, the card works again. However this problem comes randomly even after the applications are installed. Symptoms: When I try to play an audio file, any media player (DirectSound and ASIO too) simply hangs at 0.00 seconds, and no audio is coming from the card. Sometimes I can hear strange clicks and pops.

| 16 | | Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook | Reported | The integrated Dolby Digital decoder doesn't mix the subwoofer channel in to stereo speakers (front L/R ot headphones output). This is tested with a lot of movies and speaker test videos. There is also no audio when the official Dolby Digital 5.1 test video comes to the LFE channel. And there is one more problem: the rear left and right channels are hearable in both speakers.
The DTS decoder works fine, however the rear left and right channels are hearable in both speakers in DTS too.
These problems tested to exist in Windows XP SP2/SP3 and Windows Vista /SP1 with all existing drivers, including the newest 2.18.0001 BETA. | | |

| 19 | | Sound Blaster Audigy | Reported | I have an Audigy Platinum SB0090. When upgrading from the older Audigy drivers to the latest drivers available on the Creative support website, I find that they cause serious problems with my 4.1 digital speaker system (Boston BA7500G). With either of the newest drivers installed, when I adjust the volume using either the Creative Surround Mixer or the Creative Remote Control, it causes the rear speakers to stop working. Closer investigation revealed that moving the volume slider in Creative Surround Mixer had a strange effect in Windows Audio Control Panel. Upon opening the Speaker Volume tab in Windows Audio Control Panel, it revealed 8 speaker channels (suggesting that it detected the Audigy card as a 7.1 when in fact it only supports 5.1). When I moved the volume slider on the Creative Surround Mixer (in either direction) it had the effect of moving all but three of the speaker volume sliders in the Windows Audio Control Panel (Right Channel, Left Channel and Channel 8) to zero, with the result that the rear speakers stopped working. This suggests to me that Windows is reading the speaker setup as 2.1, despite it being set in Surround Mixer as 4.1 and in Windows as Quadraphonic or 4.1. It made no difference if either or both of the checkboxes “Synchronize with Windows Control panel” in Creative Audio Console or “Move all sliders at the same time” in Windows Control Panel were checked or not. This problem is present in both SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0001.exe and SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_18_0001.exe. It does not appear to be present with the older driver SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_0016.exe, so for now I have rolled back to that. In fact, with SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_0016.exe Windows Audio Control Panel only shows 2 channels in the Speaker Volume tab; Left Channel and Right Channel, but all speakers in my 4.1 system work and the controls in Creative Surround Mixer and Remote Control all work fine. I would like to be able to take advantage of the fixes available in the two newer drivers but they cause me serious problems. Can you help? If it helps I could email you some screen grabs that illustrate the problem. Finally, the presence of a beta driver on the website suggests that a newer version is coming soon. Will this issue be addressed with the new driver and do you have any idea when that might be? Thank you. | | |
| 20 | | Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook | Reported | ... on XP sp 2 machine. First SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0001 Failed completely on Mike, Midi, and soundfonts. Plus strange interference on audio. Brought down Skype, Cubase and all sound generation. Audio became awful with inference and machine fallovers. Continual reinstalls took four days to recover machine to basic 2005 driver but now with poor interference prone sound worse than original. After many machine crashes from bad driver installations (no doubt from residual newer files not replaced) eventually had to use "Driver Cleaner" as Creative and MS uninstalls left these corrupting mismatched files.
Then SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_18_0001 install but still Midi failure and as usual no creative synth.
Creative drivers are without a doubt the worst of any IT company I have ever come across. Release testing is non existant. A disgrace.

| 34 | | Sound Blaster Audigy | Active | Well, after waiting for months I noticed the new Audigy driver on the Creative website: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Driver 02.18.0010 Filesize : 37.91 MB Download Release date : 23 Mar 09 I eagerly downloaded and installed the new driver. Alas, the same problem that I identified in my initial post is still present; the new driver caused my speaker configuration to go haywire. I followed the instruction to configure speakers through Creative Audio Console but to no avail. Whatever I do, as soon as I try to adjust the volume using either Creative Surround Mixer or my Creative Remote Control, I lose both rear channels. The volume for all channels in Windows Control Panel Audio except Front Right, Front Left and Channel 8 reverts to zero. I can manually reset the volume in Windows Control Panel but as soon as I try to use either of the afore mentioned devices to adjust volume it happens again. It seems that the most recent driver that works sets up Windows Control Panel Audio to only see 2 channels (Left and Right), even though my Creative speaker configuration is 4.1 (digital). Despite that, the 4.1 speaker configuration works perfectly with the older driver. With the newer drivers Windows Control Panel Audio displayes 8 channels but they don't seem to correspond correctly to the channels in Creative's mixer software. Checking and unchecking the "Synchronize with Control Panel" box makes no difference, even if I restart to lock in the change. This is very frustrating as I have to coninue to contend with 3D EAX games hanging because I have to use the older driver for my speaker configuration to work. I am frankly amazed that Creative have released a new driver and completely ignored the problem that has had so much coverage on this thread. Can anyone shed any light on this problem? | Speaker settings reset to default on Vista if driver not installed on clean install of the OS; Beta driver and ALchemy; Volume issues on Vista 32/64-bit (levels for different channels lose sync); Audigy driver vista 64; Problems with new Audigy Drivers; Surroundmixer | |

| 37 | | Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS | Reported | When using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 series or X-Fi series sound card in a 64-bit Windows system with four gigabyte (4GB) RAM or more, various issues can be experienced. Often sound playback becomes jittery, choppy and noisy and recording fails to work. Sometimes you can record sound, but it's horribly noisy and scratchy.
This happens with the latest 64-bit drivers for both product series, under Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 RC1 64-bit and other 64-bit Windows operating systems.
The issue goes away if the computer can see only 32-bit amounts of RAM, as in 4GB of address space minus PCI addressing. On a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM installed, disabling Memory Hole Remapping in the BIOS makes the issue go away, since there is no RAM amount above the memory hole address space.
Consequently, disabling Memory Hole Remapping on a 64-bit system with more than 4GB of RAM does not solve the issue, since there is RAM above the 32-bit limit of address space.
Many users have reported varying issues most likely relating to this, such as noisy input and output, corrupted audio and a complete loss of EAX and ALchemy functionality under all 64-bit Windows operating systems.
Consider this report a collected issue observation for 64-bit Windows systems with more than 4GB of RAM installed and usable.
This is a serious issue, affecting all 64-bit Windows systems. It is severely hurting customer trust and the Sound Blaster brand. | Hardware acceleration (Dsound2D/3D and EAX) not available on XP x64 edition with 4Gb of RAM; Cannot record with system memory greater than 4GB; 4 Gb on XP64; No hardware acceleration with 4 Gb+ RAM XP 64 bit; Hardware acceleration (Dsound2D/3D and EAX) not available on XP x64 edition with 4Gb of RAM | Urgent! |

| 52 | | Sound Blaster Audigy 4 | Reported | Hallo, first when I install the latest final SB Audigy Driver 2.18.0017 first I experience a broken CMSS function in 2.1 speaker mode. It sounds very robotic.
I made a workaround with Creative Audio Center (adding all these Hardware IDs for Audigy Cards) I can use it on Audigy right now. If I open the app and choose cmss3d symbol I am able to change the Stereo Focus. A very natural one is Rear 85%. After changing speaker configuration in SB Audigy Audio Console to another configuration and back to 2.1 it maybe has to be set again. But this way CMSS works fine in 2.1 Mode in any Version of Windows Vista/ Windows 7. The speaker area of Audio Center does not really synchronize with SB Audigy Audio Console. So I don't use it.
Another issue is headphones do not work (they are silent) on the SB Audigy 4 Pro SB Audigy Drive when speakers are set to 7.1 mode.
Another issue is synchronization between Windows Sound Panel and SB Audigy Audio Console. When the Windows Sound Panel is set to anything else then 16 Bit 48 KHz it happens that by changing the speaker configuration in SB Audigy Audio Console that there is no sound anymore. I have to set the Windows Sound Panel Speakers back to 16 Bit 48 KHz to get it back.
Once I decided to test driver installation without costom rdf. I renamed the file so the driver install couldn't find it. It crashed after looking for the costom rdf file. At this point I had wonderful sound quality with 2.1 cmss without any neccessity of using Audio Center. It sounded like it did in Windows XP. And the synchronization between SB AUdigy Audio Console and Windows Sound Panel worked perfect. After that I changed the AudioDrv.ini that it does not request costom rdfs. But completing the installation also without costom rdf all these issues are back. So something happens after the costom rdf install that causes all these issues.
Another issue is when I set Windows Sound Panel to 24 Bit 192 KHz and SB Audigy Audio Console to 2.1 speaker mode cmss off, full dynamic range decoder and 96 KHz SPDIF E/A and listen to X- Fi Super Rips (Setting WAV 2 Ch 24 Bit 96 KHz, no CMSS3D, no Crystalizer, just no change) there is a false fading in Drum recordings.
In 24 Bit 192 KHz Mode: At the beginning of every sound playback there is sound like puting an lp on before it starts.
Another issue is that edited and saved eax effects get lost after every restart
Could You please deverlop a replacement application for THX Console for Vista/7 that can configure speaker placement. I have THX Console 2.10.43 installed and speaker calibaration as well as setting where the center is placed (above or below the monitor is grayed out).
I read that You develop a new application regarding THX functions for the upcoming X-Fi Models. Could You please also make it available for SB Audigy cards?
Why is just bit acurate recordin available in SB Audigy Audio Console why not also bit acurate playbacck?
