Is anything being done about Unreal Tournament 3?
Epic don't want to know, they've just said Creative are fixing it. But the problem lies with OpenAL and X-RAM, so presumably whatever the fix is, it needs to implimented into OpenAL, not the sound card drivers. The problem in question if you didn't know is that UT3 crashes if you have OpenAL switched on in-game and if you have an X-Fi sound card that uitilzes X-RAM. Only fixes that exist are to use an older version of OpenAL instead of the summer 2007 release 2.0.3 (bundled with the game), or turn off OpenAL in the game. Using an older version makes it sound kind of crummy too, so you might just as well turn it off. Is anyone fixing this issue? Forgive me if I'm posting in completely the wrong place... But Epic are about as helpful as a plank of wood when it comes to informing of what is going on, and so are Creative.

Creative is working with Epic on a solution to this problem.  It is proving to be difficult to track down the exact cause.   Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.

Thanks. At least they're still working on it.
