Description

All the tests are based on the same hardware configuration, the only difference is the OS. 1. Tried both the latest official driver and beta driver on Win XP 32-bit, XP 32-bit can only recognize 3GB RAM, although 4GB physical RAM installed. Sound card work w/o problem. 2. Tried both the latest official driver and beta driver on Win XP 64-bit, XP 64-bit recognize all 4GB RAM, I can only hear the crackling/hissing from X-Fi. Then I add /Maxmem=4096 in boot.ini, which equal to pulling 1GB mem stick from computer, now the sound card works fine. 3. Tried both the latest official driver and beta driver on Win 2003 R2 SP2 STD 32-bit, 2003 STD 32-bit recognize all 4GB RAM, I can only hear the crackling/hissing from X-Fi. Then I add /Maxmem=4096 in boot.ini, which equal to pulling 1GB mem stick from computer, now the sound card works fine.

We have found and fixed the 4GB RAM issue; there is going to be an official non-beta driver update for this soon.
