Oblivion issues when using ALchemy
Hi,

When enabling Oblivion in ALchemy, I'm only getting audio out of my subwoofer which means the sound is only bass.

I'm using a Creative SB Audigy 4 with the latest Vista drivers, ALchemy 1.00.08 (Audigy Edition), and the latest Oblivion patch. The sound works fine without ALchemy, but without the EAX and surround sound support. Other games enabled with ALchemy function properly.

I've tried contacting the Creative Technical Support team, but they didn't even know Oblivion is an approved/verified game using ALchemy 1.3, so were no help.

Hope someone here can help, it was the main game I got ALchemy for!

Regards,

Can you please verify that you have an appropriate speaker mode selected in the Creative Audio Console application?

NOTE : Don't use the Windows Vista Speaker Configuration application because it does not support all the speaker modes that your Audigy cards supports.

Thanks for the reply.

Yup, I've got 5.1 speakers set in the Audio Console. As I said before, all the other ALchemy enabled games work fine with full surround sound and EAX. Whilst Oblivion's sound is only coming from my subwoofer :(

Hi,

I reproduced the issue here and discovered that the game sets some very unusual default values for the listener position that seems to be causing a very strong low-pass filter to be applied to the audio.

I've implemented a work-around in ALchemy to stop the problem from happening.   It will be included in the next release (due in about a week).

Thanks for the bug-report.

Thanks Dan!

Great to hear that I will hopefully be able to enjoy the atmosphere of the Great Forest once again ;)

Hi Dan, I'm using alchemy version 1.20.04 and I got the same audio problem: low voice in the listener position. I have an audigy 2 value (with the last drivers) and vista x64 sp1
